POS Line vs Loyverse POS

Free POS — until you need to take a payment or file FBR.

Loyverse’s core is genuinely free, and that is a real strength. But in Pakistan a free register can’t accept a card, JazzCash, Easypaisa or Raast; can’t post an FBR invoice; can’t run a khata; and locks your sales history to the last 30 days. POS Line is built in and for Pakistan — those are the things it does on day one.

Competitor figures reflect Loyverse’s published plans and integrations as of 2026.

This is an honest comparison, not a takedown. Loyverse is a mature, well-loved, free core POS that thousands of small cafes and kiranas run worldwide — if all you need is an offline cash register, it is a fine place to start. The gap is geographic: Loyverse wasn’t built for Pakistan’s payment rails, tax authority or credit culture. POS Line was. Below is exactly where that difference shows up, with the places Loyverse still wins called out plainly near the end.

POS Line vs Loyverse POS, line by line.

The strongest differences sit at the top — the ones that decide whether you can actually run a Pakistani shop end to end on the software. We left pricing as a placeholder; our local plans aren’t public yet.

The four that matter most

Where “free” quietly costs you a sale.

Each of these is something a Pakistani shop needs on a normal trading day — and each is missing from Loyverse’s stack, free tier or paid.

Payment rails Pakistanis actually use

POS Line takes JazzCash, Easypaisa and Raast QR natively, with split payment for the customer who pays half cash, half wallet. No external reader to import, no processor that skips Pakistan.

Loyverse:Integrated card runs through SumUp / Zettle / Teya / Tyro / Smartpay / Yoco — none of which operate in PK, so it is cash-only here.

FBR PRAL invoicing, native

Every sale can be posted to FBR’s IRIS in real time with an IRN — no separate bolt-on module, no parallel software for the tax man. Built for Tier-1 retailers who have to file.

Loyverse:No FBR / PRAL integration and no IRN, on any tier.

Khata / udhaar inside the till

The credit ledger most Pakistani shopkeepers run their business on lives inside the POS — record udhaar against a customer, settle it later, see balances at the counter.

Loyverse:No khata / udhaar ledger.

Your full history, no paywall

POS Line keeps your sales history without a 30-day cliff. Look back at last Eid, last quarter, last year — without paying a USD add-on just to read your own data.

Loyverse:Free tier caps history at ~30 days; Unlimited Sales History is a paid USD add-on ($5 per store/mo, as of 2026).
An honest section

Where Loyverse still wins.

We won’t pretend these aren’t real. If they describe your shop, Loyverse may be the better call — and we’d rather you know that now.

  • A genuinely free, mature core POS

Loyverse’s core apps — POS, Dashboard, KDS, Customer Display — are free worldwide with no time limit. That is a very low barrier to entry, and it is real.

  • Clean, polished Android / iPad app

The app is well-designed and pleasant to use, with multi-store inventory, low-stock alerts, employee clock-in and permissions, loyalty, discounts and split checks out of the box.

  • Proven offline-then-sync register

It works offline and syncs when the connection returns, and it has a long, global track record with small cafes and kiranas. As a dependable cash register, it is battle-tested.

  • Kitchen display + customer display included

KDS and a customer-facing display ship in the free core — handy for cafes and quick-service spots that want those screens without paying extra.

The short version: if you need a free, clean, offline cash register and never touch FBR, local card rails or udhaar, Loyverse is excellent. The moment those enter the picture — and in Pakistan they almost always do — POS Line is the one that can actually do them.

Before you switch

The questions we hear most.

Is Loyverse really free in Pakistan?

The core apps are free worldwide. The catch in Pakistan is that the free tier caps sales history at about 30 days (Unlimited Sales History is a paid USD add-on), and Loyverse’s integrated card payments run through processors — SumUp, Zettle, Teya, Tyro, Smartpay, Yoco — none of which operate in Pakistan. So a PK shop on Loyverse is effectively cash-only, with no in-app card, JazzCash, Easypaisa or Raast.

Can Loyverse file FBR digital invoices?

No. Loyverse has no FBR / PRAL digital-invoicing integration and does not issue an IRN. POS Line posts every invoice to FBR’s IRIS system natively, with no third-party bolt-on — which matters if you are a Tier-1 retailer who has to file.

Does POS Line have a khata / udhaar ledger?

Yes. POS Line has a built-in khata credit ledger inside the POS — the udhaar workflow most Pakistani shopkeepers actually run their business on. Loyverse has none.

What about offline selling?

Both work offline. Loyverse works offline then syncs on reconnect. POS Line uses an offline IndexedDB queue with idempotent reconcile, so the kiosk keeps selling through outages and the same sale never posts twice when the link comes back — even if the cashier hit charge again during the freeze.
